Are You a Dead Fish?
Most of these blogs are intended for our young people, who find themselves in situations most of their parents never dreamed of. For instance, why are so many young people today wanting to change their sex, as though by doing so, they’d be happier? Why are so many young people today willing to experiment with lethal combinations of drugs – knowing the possibility of death resulting? The answer is far simpler than can be imagined: it’s because they just want to FEEL GOOD.
The Lock:
So many of our decisions are based on “feelings”, and those of us old enough to know from our own experiences, that ‘feelings without knowledge is dangerous’. Many of us want to feel better, regardless of the cost, hence, we are willing to take the chance to feel better, even if the end result is disastrous, or even deadly.
This is when religion can come into play.
We want to “feel good” – mentally and physically – and so many are willing to pay the price to feel good, but “feeling good” always demands a very high price that none of us can afford, and in most instances, only death itself is the price we end up paying for “feeling good”. For many, the only release from pain is death, not knowing that we traverse from one dimension of pain into another far more painful – and worse than this, it is PERMANENT.
This is precisely the work of the devil – a creature destined for the deepest, darkest, loneliness pit in Hell, and do you think he plans to dwell there alone? He has always done everything within his stolen power to drag people – especially our young people – into his pit as a sort of padding, as though he could possibly think that by doing so, he’d make his bed in Hell all the more comfortable.
Religion… what to believe, who to believe, why believe at all?
It’s only when we look outside of ourselves that we begin to look for answers, but there are so many “answers”… Which one is correct? How do I discern the one ‘true answer’ from so many others in order to remedy my discontent?
The Key: Truth
The only answer involves the Truth. How is truth measured? It’s measured by FACTS! Not conspiracy theories; not get-well quick schemes; not by bullying; not by fake news that is so unabashedly prevalent in our time, and especially not by popular consensus, for when the masses believe in anything, they are almost ALWAYS wrong.
For me, I need to turn to God. I need to read and pray and meditate on the scriptures. Why? Well, because this is the Truth! Do you want the Truth or not!
Keys… so many so-called, genius gurus of religion; so many scam artists, and even the run-of-the-road preachers of today use “keys” as an illustration to get at the Truth. Ever see a key that gets used a lot, such as my own house and car keys? I can tell you, that such keys are bright and shiny, but the rest of my keys that hang from my keyring are tarnished, old and one of them is even a bit rusted (I’ve even forgotten what it’s used for). So, it is with our hearts. If we are not using our one key to the Truth, then even this one will become corrupted and rusted and useless… perhaps, even forgotten.
Never take the word of another. NEVER! It’s so easy to listen to the gossip of others and assume that this is the truth, but is it? Have you used Scripture to help you discern the truth? Sadly, most of us do not. We make decisions based on “feelings” and on the gossip, slander and lies of others without ever standing back and making a stand to seek out the TRUTH.
It’s easy to float downstream with the rest of the dead fish. Are you a dead fish too? It takes no effort to float downstream with the rest of the dead fish of the Church today, or are you going to fight against the easy streams of gossip, slander and lies, and make a difference when it comes to seeking the TRUTH by using Scripture to fight upstream against such torrents which lead to the river Styx in the bowels of Hell?
Stand Up! Reach your potential as an image bearer of CHRIST! Stop being a dead fish! Get it together and use the truth of Scripture to help make your decisions! The truth will always set us free, but we first need to want it more than anything else.
Matthew 18: 15-20 says:
15 “If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother. 16 But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every charge may be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses. 17 If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector. 18 Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed[f] in heaven. 19 Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”
